What are you bringing into the sauna

We talked a lot about reading the energy in a room in our last newsletter.

But what about the energy we bring with us?

You can walk into a room carrying an entire day.

A difficult conversation.
A full inbox.
Someone else’s mood.
The things you haven’t had time to feel.

Replaying anxious conversations over and over in our minds creating alternate scenarios and solutions.

And sometimes you don’t even realise you’re carrying it until you finally stop.

That’s where ritual can become powerful.

A warm cup of tea before you enter the sauna. The familiar scent of essential oils in the heat. The feeling of warmth slowly moving through your body. Your breath becoming a little deeper. The outside world becoming a little quieter.

These small sensory cues can help signal to our nervous system that we are safe enough to slow down.

Tea gives us a moment to pause. Aromatherapy brings scent directly into the experience of breath. Heat encourages the body to soften and release tension.

Nothing to achieve.
Nothing to rush towards.

Absolutely no requirement………you already did the hard thing and got yourself here.

A series of little reminders:

You are here.
You can breathe.
You can let go.

And perhaps that's one of the quiet gifts of sauna.

You arrive as you are.

You sweat.
You breathe.
You sit.
You go cold.
You drink your tea.

And somewhere between the heat, the scent and the silence, you begin to notice what is yours - and what isn't.

You don't always need to fix everything.

Sometimes you just need somewhere to put it down.

Come as you are. Leave a little lighter.

See you in the sauna,

Warmest and with Love

The Neighbourhood Sauna

The Neighbourhood Sauna acknowledges the Whadjuk Noongar people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we gather here in Walyalup, now known as Fremantle. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and honour their enduring connection to land, waters and skies. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
